Spartan-fleet Simulations combines the best of high-quality novel writing with real-time, interactive character simulation. Unlike a role-playing game there is only enough structure to provide writers with a necessary creative framework. Unlike writing books, Spartan-fleet Simulations provides a dynamic, interactive environment. Participants set their pace and choose the level of interaction they wish to enjoy. Department Heads and senior officers help develop the skills of the writers in their departments.

Spartan-fleet Simulations also provides a unified setting. For example, all sims set within Star Trek: the Next Generation © share the same setting so that events in one sim are reflected in others. This creates a “living” environment that grows and changes with the creators.

UNLEASHED CREATIVITY

Spartan-fleet Simulations strives to be true to chosen settings without restricting participants to those settings. New technologies, new races, and creative use of existing story material are encouraged. To support writers Spartan-fleet sims provides a wealth of support material ranging from a story archive to maps and documents detailing critical information necessary to produce high-quality work.

In addition, Spartan-fleet Simulations encourages participating writers to explore character development in great depth and detail. Writers can proceed at their pace and participate both with individual character story arcs and group stories. Opportunities for advancement both for writers and for characters are available, offering a tangible sense accomplishment for creativity.

Posting minimums are light to accommodate the needs of working writers but many writers work together on projects of considerable size, depth, and quality. “Tagging” is not allowed. All scenes must be complete.

UNPARALLELED QUALITY

Participants in Spartan-fleet Simulations are proud of the quality of their work. Writing is in third-person, past-tense like one sees in most published novels. Spelling and grammar are set to high school minimum as well. Spell checking and grammar programs are acceptable for most writing.

Standards and writing format are the same across the fleet. Writers participating in one of our sims know what to expect from others. Writers focus on having fun, not on figuring out how the sim works.

Intellectual property rights are honored at Spartan-fleet Simulations. Permission is granted only for use within sims and archives are accessible only by participants. We stake no claims to original material offered by participating writers.
